Club staff recently attended a training session focusing on social recreation and effective gamesroom management, presented by Boys & Girls Club of America’s School of Youth Development.
This training, facilitated by BGCA’s Kharimasud Olufemi, served to emphasize key points of implementing and maintaining a safe, enriching, and fun environment by utilizing the principles of BGCA’s Triple Play health and wellness program. It involved an informative presentation, discussion, and role-play exercises, illustrating practical application of the program throughout the Club’s normal operations.
Triple Play, developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is a program that strives to improve the overall health of Club members ages 6-18 by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition, and helping them develop healthy relationships.
The “Triple” in the program name refers to its focus areas of mind, body, and soul, the health of which are crucial factors in youth development.
With the Triple Play program and its principles in place, the Club will continue to enable and encourage each of our 3,900 annual members to reach their full potential in a safe, healthy, and fun environment that is nurturing to the key areas of mind, body, and soul.
