Occupying a former Jewish community center on a busy residential corner in Boyle Heights, the Salesian Boys and Girls Club is a thriving neighborhood hub. While the young members of the club live with regular gang violence, within the protected walls of the Club they are learning to swim, garden, dance, and play the violin. Seventy-five to one hundred kids a day are supported by the Club. The Salesian Boys and Girls Club is fronted by two walls of beautiful windows that offer a picturesque view of the neighborhood, but have been neglected for many years. With volunteer help and some elbow grease, they will let the sun shine in!
