A Farewell to a Volunteer Who Inspired Through Creativity

For more than three years, Renee Boulware has been a constant and positive presence at the Salesian Family Youth Center. As a young adult volunteer, Renee shared her love for arts and crafts through team-based projects that brought children together to create, learn, and have fun. Through these shared experiences, she helped build confidence, curiosity, and joy among our young people.

Renee regularly joined group activities, guiding children as they explored drawing, writing, origami, and more. Her approach made creativity feel accessible and exciting, encouraging children to participate, collaborate, and express themselves freely.

Sofia, now 12 years old, shared how Renee influenced her growth: “Renee helped me to be better at arts and crafts. She empowered me to be a writer in the future” Sofia’s words reflect how Renee helped children discover their talents and imagine new possibilities for their future.

Camila, who is 10 years old, shared simply, “I want to thank Renee because she taught me how to draw and I am happy when I draw.” That happiness captures the heart of Renee’s service, helping children find joy and confidence through creativity.

Alianny also shared her appreciation: “I love when she used to come and read us books. She also showed us how to make origami and other great activities. I would like to say thank you for showing me everything. Now I know what to do when I am bored.” Her words show how Renee’s impact extended beyond the Youth Center and into everyday life.

Renee is now pursuing her dreams and will be stepping away from volunteering at the Salesian Family Youth Center. While her time with us is coming to a close, her influence remains strong. We are grateful that Renee is part of our community and thankful for the care, creativity, and consistency she shared with our children.

This farewell is also a reminder of how meaningful volunteer service can be. By showing up, sharing talents, and engaging with young people, volunteers like Renee make a lasting difference in ways that continue long after their time of service ends.
