December Highlights: Joy, Community & Christmas Spirit šŸŽ„

We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ✨ December at the Salesian Family Youth Center was one to remember, filled with exciting programs, college exploration trips, and plenty of holiday cheer!

A Message From Our Executive Director ā˜ƒļø

"As we celebrate Christmas this year, my hope is simple: that we help young people look beyond gifts and discover something deeper and more lasting. That shift doesn’t happen all at once. It happens through everyday choices—to be present, to accompany one another, and to serve with intention. In doing so, we not only help children rediscover the meaning of Christmas—we do the same for ourselves. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful Christmas. Thank you for being part of our family and for walking alongside us in this mission. Merry Christmas!"

-Jc Montenegro, Ph.D.

Holiday Joy in the We Care After-School Program šŸŽ„

Our after-school program jumped into the Christmas spirit with bounce houses, pizza, and tons of laughter! Students enjoyed hanging out with friends and were thrilled by a surprise visit from Santa himself.

Adopt-A-Family Collaboration: Grateful Hearts, Joyful Families ā¤ļø

Thank you to our Adopt-A-Family Program for providing Christmas gifts to 50 of our families this year. During a season that has been especially challenging for many, it was truly a blessing to witness the heart of Jesus reflected in the generosity of those who donated. Seeing the joy and gratitude on the faces of families receiving their gifts reminded us of the true spirit of Christmas. šŸŽ„ā¤ļø

Game On! Bravo Gamers Tournament šŸŽ®

ree

Bravo Gamers Club recently hosted an exciting Super Smash Bros. tournament, bringing fast-paced action and friendly competition to campus. As soon as the bell rang, students jumped into practice, filling the room with excitement and anticipation as players prepared to battle with their favorite characters. The hour-long tournament featured intense matches, great sportsmanship, and nonstop fun. It was a huge success, and we look forward to hosting even more video game tournaments in the future!

A New Creative Space at Bravo šŸŽ‰

This month, Bravo launched Pottery Club, welcoming students of all experience levels. Every Monday, they explored molding, sculpting, and shaping while experimenting with their own ideas. Many found it a fun, de-stressing way to get creative. The month ended with holiday-themed pieces—perfect as gifts or decorations. Pottery Club is already building community, encouraging self-expression, and we can’t wait to see what students create next!

SHOUT - MaCES Hiking Club Enjoying the Outdoors ā˜ƒļø

The Hiking Club at MaCES took a field trip to the Pacific Palisades, exploring the trails and enjoying the great outdoors. After the hike, students relaxed with a fun game of Uno before coming together to plan their next adventure!

Holiday Explorations: San Francisco College Trip

At the beginning of the month, 20 of our high school students from various programs embarked on a college exploration trip to the Bay Area. They visited UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly SLO, UC Berkeley, CSU Monterey Bay, and UC Santa Cruz. The trip sparked excitement as students explored campus life and imagined their own future at these universities!
