Thank you for all that attended our "Noche de Esperanza" ✨
This past month brought us some truly amazing moments and memories! Our 4th Annual Gala, “Una Noche de Esperanza,” was a tremendous success, welcoming nearly 300 attendees and raising $58,297.40 in support of our mission. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and helped make the evening so special. Because of you, we continue to bring hope, opportunity, and brighter futures to our community.

Journalism Project takes on the Windy City! 🏙

Journalists in the making with our Youth Leaders from Roosevelt high school. These students were chosen for this great opportunity to attend a Hispanic Youth Leadership conference in Chicago! They have been working on writing a book together so they can be publishers. In Chicago they were able to attend so many different workshops from career building, resume writing, college resources, leadership, and so much more. After their conferences, they had the opportunity to go sightseeing as well as going to known Chicago monuments.
Empowered Youth, Stronger Communities! 👍🏻
The Salesian Family Youth Center supported a youth-led homeless outreach in Skid Row, organized by the SHOUT Program at Bravo High School, with participation from St. Mary Parish and SFYC youth.Together, they served individuals experiencing homelessness—and their pets—by distributing clothing, essential supplies, blankets, toys, and pet donations, with support from Found Animals. This initiative highlights our commitment to empowering youth to lead with compassion and create meaningful change in their communities.
March Madness here at the SFYC! 🏀
Our youth basketball program is in full swing as teams tip off their Mamba League season in collaboration with WSGVBGC. We’re excited to see what this season has in store for both our boys and girls teams!
Meanwhile, our middle school and pee-wee teams are competing in the Variety Boys & Girls Club league, with playoffs right around the corner. The excitement is building, and we can’t wait to cheer them on as they make their postseason push!
Legends Game Brings Legendary Moments! ⚽️
Thanks to Be Social Productions and House of Heroes, our youth experienced the Legends Game at BMO Stadium—many for the first time! Club Don Bosco players, outreach volunteers, and youth leaders all shared in this unforgettable day. Special thanks to JC Montenegro for helping make it possible and hanging out with us at this awesome match.
JV Robotics Team Powers Up at Competition! 🤖
Our JV Robotics team had a great experience at their recent competition! Students have been working hard building their robots and developing their coding skills, and this event was especially meaningful for those attending their first competition. A special shoutout to Mr. Javier for his incredible leadership and dedication—his guidance is helping set these students up for future success in robotics.
World Thinking Day Fun! 🌍
The girls “traveled around the world!” Each pair of girls represented a country by creating a trifold presentation board, SWAPS, and bringing a food item to share. They did an amazing job researching and presenting their countries.
The girls also made passports and visited each country table to learn fun facts, see famous places, try snacks, and exchange SWAPS. We are so proud of all their hard work and teamwork! 💚
East L.A. Classic Spirit Shines: SHOUT Drill Team Steals the Show at Roosevelt vs. Garfield 💃
The East L.A. Classic basketball game between Roosevelt High School and Garfield High School brought incredible energy, especially with the home crowd behind us. Performing on our home court pushed the drill team to elevate their routines, and their hard work during practices truly paid off in an engaging halftime show. The drill team’s performance was met with cheers from a packed crowd of parents and students. We are incredibly proud and grateful to have our drill team representing SHOUT program with such dedication and talent.
New Drivers on the Block! 🚙

Students in our SHOUT Program at Maces High School focus intently as they complete their driver’s education test, taking an important step toward independence and the open road.
☘️ Girl Scouts Inventor & Product Design ☘️
Our troop earned their Inventor & Product Design badges by designing and building their own Leprechaun traps! They used their creativity and problem solving skills to imagine how they could catch a sneaky leprechaun and protect his pot of gold. First girls drafted a diagram. Then they created a materials list and used Lucky charms cereal as bait. The designs were so creative! We love seeing the girls think like inventors and bring their ideas to life.
We had an incredible month filled with great events, and we’re excited for what’s ahead at our youth center. If you’d like to support our work or plan a visit, please feel free to reach out to us at cmendoza@salesianclubs-la.org with any questions!
