For the last two months, we have been MIA "Missing in Action." Once our summer program started, we did not have time to share all the fantastic work at the Salesian Family Youth Center. Nonetheless, the work was done! We changed many lives.
In this blog, we would like to pay tribute to all of you who, thanks to your donations, love, and care, helped us continue being open and serving our community's children! Thank you so much for always being there for the children of our community!

Staff training on Social and Emotional Skills
Right before we started the craziness of our summer program, volunteers from Spain helped us to understand how to help children to process their emotions. This skill was helpful given that Covid has affected many of the children we served. We want to thank these volunteers from the University of Comillas. On the same day, we did our annual strategic planning meeting, where we saw all the fantastic work done during the year.

For many years, we have collaborated with the University of Comillas in Spain. This year we welcomed 14 volunteers who have served our children for the last two months. They helped to provide arts and crafts and STEM activities, and their support made a difference in our summer program! Thank you so much for all your love and dedication!
Thanks to our local Counselors!
Yes, we had over 40 young people from our community who invested their summer serving our children. These young people make a difference in many children's lives and our own lives. They did over 300 hours to improve our community. We have no words of gratitude for all of them. This picture is a beautiful tribute to the extraordinary power that young people have in this world.

In these summer we have couple groups and families who donated food for the whole Camp Salesian. Among them we have the Ex-Alumnos Salesianos who prepared hamburgs, and the mother of one of our counselors who cooked pupusas :) Thank you for all your love and care!

Salesian Olympics
As part of our summer program, St. Dominic Savio Church and the Salesian Family Youth Center gathered to have a moment of relaxation among the counselors. This day was a fantastic experience of brotherhood and sisterhood. Here is a video that shows what we did and talks about Salesian Spirituality.
There are no words to express gratitude to everyone who made this summer camp special. It was not easy, but we did it!
